Talladega to host Alabama EMS Challenge at Talladega Superspeedway

(Talladega, AL) The City of Talladega will host the Alabama EMS Challenge on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., at Talladega Superspeedway. The continuing education initiative, presented in partnership with Alabama Fire College, allows Emergency Medical Services providers, nurses, firefighters, students and others to enhance their skills by participating in free, physician-led lectures and hands-on training sessions.
During the morning lecture, Dr. Will Ferguson will present 12 Leads and Cases in Resuscitation from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., and Dr. Joel Evans will present Burn Trauma from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Lunch will be served 11 a.m. - noon. Participants can receive credits for lectures whether they attend in-person or via Microsoft Teams. The hands-on portion of the training will be held from 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. The skills lab with AEMSC staff will include Pit Crew CPR, Advanced Airway, Surgical Airway and Mega Code scenarios with the physicians. Participants must be present to receive credits for the skills lab.

“This is a great opportunity for EMS providers, nurses, students, or anyone interested in emergency medicine to enhance their skills,” said EMS Director Baily Price. “Alabama EMS Challenges are held in all areas of the state, and anyone who shows up will be able to register free of charge via a QR code.”

Turn in the main entrance at Talladega Superspeedway. If you are in a large truck, EMS vehicle, or fire apparatus, please take the first left and follow the red line on the map to the south tunnel. Once you enter the infield, follow the signs to the media center. (Red line on the map to the blue line and then left.)
Travelers in a private vehicle/car, please use the main entrance and proceed straight through the north tunnel. Once you exit the tunnel, turn right to the media center. (Blue line on the map)
