Talladega receives $50,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant

Talladega receives $50,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant

(Talladega, AL) The City of Talladega is proud to be a $50,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant recipient. T-Mobile sent a team to Talladega today to share the great news about the grant. Community leaders representing a wide array of organizations and businesses gathered in Talladega City Hall, which was decorated in T-Mobile pink, to hear the announcement.  Event highlights included a performance by the award-winning Talladega High School cheerleaders and the presentation of an oversized check to City Manager Seddrick Hill Sr. and the Talladega City Council.

The funds will be used to help construct Unity Playground, a well-designed, inclusive and accessible ADA playground in Veterans Memorial Park. Unity Playground, the city's first inclusive public playground, will include equipment that allows children of all abilities to play together.

“The City of Talladega is thrilled and honored to be a T-Mobile Hometown Grant recipient. This valued partnership will help us build an accessible, inclusive public playground that helps children of all abilities to play together and develop socially, emotionally and physically. The playground will attract and benefit a wide range of community members - including those who are blind, deaf or deaf/blind, those with diverse health conditions, and those who use wheelchairs. We are so appreciative of T-Mobile for supporting a project that will bring joy to children and families throughout our community,” said City Manager Seddrick Hill Sr.

“Our city manager, mayor and city council are working together to make Talladega a better place to live, work and play.  T-Mobile’s generous investment in our community will help enhance this effort and bring joy to so many members of our community,” said Public Information Officer Mary Sood.
