(Talladega, AL) Participants in Talladega's Best Christmas Window Contest created festive storefronts that helped attract shoppers, dazzle children and spread an abundance of cheer throughout the city during the holiday season.

Competition winners were:

First place - T.B. Turner Interior Design; Second Place - The Ritz Theatre; Third Place - AlaHomes Realty; Fourth Place - Michael's Menswear and King's Home Thrift Talladega; and Fifth Place - Talladega County Extension Office.

Prizes included gifts from Blush and Bashful Boutique, Michael's Menswear, Talladega's Historic Ritz Theatre, T.B. Turner Interior Design, LMo & Co and the City of Talladega.

“The Best Christmas Window Contest encouraged businesses to help create a more festive and joyful atmosphere throughout Talladega during the holiday season,” said City Manager Derrick Swanson, who delivered prizes to participants. “Residents and visitors were captivated by the windows, which were both beautiful and unique. Hearing the stories behind the window designs was especially fascinating.”

The delight was in the details at T.B. Turner Interior Design, whose storefront display included elegant bows, lush greenery, glistening ornaments and stately nutcrackers. Talladega's Historic Ritz Theatre window featured delightful dolls in lovely Dickens attire, while AlaHomes Realty went all out with a massive Christmas village. There was a nostalgic vintage vibe at Michael's Menswear, where exquisite holiday decor from decades past adorned the windows and ceilings. At King's Home Thrift, a whimsical winter scene hand painted by employee Ca'Nautica James adorned the windows. Meanwhile, colorful drawings brightened the windows at the Talladega County Extension Office.

"Feedback has been so positive that we have decided to expand the contest to include residential properties as well as businesses next year," said City of Talladega Public Information Officer Mary Sood.
