(Talladega, AL) The City of Talladega recently hosted the District IV Alabama Municipal Clerks meeting, which included representatives from Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Calhoun, Etowah and Cherokee counties.
City Clerk Joanna Medlen, who arranged the gathering, noted that this was the first time the regional meeting was held in Talladega.
“Our meetings give city clerks an opportunity to network, exchange ideas and share best practices," said Medlen. “Having the regional meeting in Talladega gave us an opportunity to also showcase our city.”
“Hosting events such as the District IV Alabama Municipal Clerks meeting helps to raise the profile of our city and has a tangible economic impact,” added City Manager Derrick Swanson. "While almost everyone is familiar with Talladega Superspeedway, many visitors are not aware that Talladega is home to the Amistad Murals, CMP Marksmanship Park, TOP Trails OHV Park, the Historic Ritz Theatre, Hall of Heroes Museum, Heritage Hall Museum, Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB), Talladega College, Presbyterian Home for Children and so much more.”
Attendees included Greg Bomar, Nathan Currie, and Joe Meads of Sain Associates; Iva Nelson and Jennifer Smith from Gadsden; Tashia Blackerby from Glencoe; Brenda Long from Jacksonville; Robin Caler from Oak Grove; Alan Atkinson from Oxford; Beth Lee from Rainbow City; and Holley Smith-Chatman and Medlen of Talladega.
City Manager Derrick Swanson welcomed the guests to the luncheon meeting, which was also attended by Council President Betty Spratlin and Councilman Hugh Sims. Interim Police Chief Ron McElrath and Angela Vincent set up and decorated for the occasion.
The event, which was catered by Stampede, was sponsored by Sain Associates.
