Talladega City Hall goes all out for Christmas
December 20, 2024
(Talladega, AL) Santas, reindeer, pink trees, snow globes and an abundance of festive wreaths adorn offices throughout Talladega City Hall, where employees have been participating in an array of Christmas activities throughout the month of December.
"I challenged every department to help ring in the holiday season, and I was impressed by the ideas generated," said City Manager Derrick Swanson. "We enjoyed a slew of fun, team-building activities, including an ugly sweater contest, Christmas caroling, a toy drive and a cookie challenge. One of my favorites was a pickleball match at the Spring Street Recreation Center, which highlighted Talladega Parks and Recreation resources and services.”
Talladega Parks and Recreation Department Director Summer Ammons, who arranged the activity, said, “I wanted everyone to get together, relax and have fun during the holiday season. We seldom have time to spend with employees in different departments, but this allowed us all to come together.”
Administrative Assistant Angela Vincent, who participated in the pickleball match and other employee Christmas activities, said, “Pickleball was fun, great exercise and an opportunity to become better acquainted with my co-workers.”
All of the Christmas activities generated lasting memories, including those of crazy Santa hats and a Grinch shirt with legs who was said to have “walked off with” the first place Grinch shirt prize.
While many employees won prizes and certificates, according to Administrative Clerk Karen Black, the best part of all of the Christmas activities was “interacting with coworkers that I don’t normally see.”
