(Talladega, AL) J. Scott King was sworn in as chief court clerk/chief magistrate by Judge Mark Smith Nelson during Monday's Talladega City Council meeting. King, who was appointed acting court clerk on December 1, 2023, previously served as magistrate.
“Mr. King is clearly committed to continuous growth and improvement. In addition to working diligently to develop his own leadership skills, he aspires to help his staff develop the skills they need to advance in their careers,” said City Manager Derrick Swanson.
King notes that service is a tradition in his family. His father, Lt. Mark King, served in the Talladega Police Department for 25 years before retiring in 2015. His mother, Renne King, was a nurse at Citizen’s Baptist Medical Center, and his wife, Ellen King, is employed at Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind.
“I have worked for the City of Talladega for four years. I absolutely hope my son Joseph carries on the tradition of service to our City," King said.
