Good. Better. Best. City employees enhance leadership skills

(Talladega, AL) In keeping with the City of Talladega’s commitment to continuous improvement, staff directors are enhancing their leadership skills via weekly training sessions with City Manager Derrick Swanson.

Swanson, who joined the city in April 2024, said, “Our weekly meetings will ensure that directors fully comprehend policy and procedures; have a clear understanding of their goals; develop new leadership skills; and work together to provide outstanding service to our community.”

Swanson believes employees with a sense of purpose and a commitment to excellence are better equipped to help the city realize its goal of enhancing the overall quality of life for Talladega residents.

Drawing from an array of proven leadership development methods, he includes interactive team building activities, analysis of diverse leadership philosophies and a wealth of practical advice on goal setting, productivity, and career advancement in his training sessions.

The meetings also give employees an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss concerns, and gain a better understanding of their roles and the roles of their colleagues.

“I believe that consistent training can reduce stress, confusion and errors, and help create a happier workplace,” Swanson said.
