CrimeStoppers honors City of Talladega Police Officers

(Talladega, AL) Four City of Talladega police officers were named 2022 CrimeStoppers Officers of the Year by CrimeStoppers of Central Alabama Executive Director Tony Garrett during a recent city council meeting.

Sgt. Jeff Hamm and officers Jeremy King, Jason Robinson and Quinterious Hill were recognized for their role in assisting a female whose locked vehicle was trapped by a large fallen tree on January 7, 2023.

Garrett shared a message from Talladega Police Chief Diane Thomas that stated, "The City of Talladega should be proud of the officers being acknowledged today. Although their jobs call for extreme measures at times, their actions on one particular call showed that they are willing to go even further when it comes to the protection of life."

Garrett read the incident report aloud during council meeting. He noted that the victim, who floated in and out of consciousness, was bleeding profusely due to a gunshot wound.  The officers realized that the paramedics would not be able to get to the victim, whose vehicle was trapped by a large fallen tree.

While several officers attempted to move the car from the woodline, others climbed into the vehicle to apply first aid and comfort the victim. Once the paramedics arrived, the officers assisted in getting the victim out of the car and into the ambulance. Two of the officers followed the paramedics to the hospital while the remaining officers checked the area and notified the victim’s family.
