City to hold E-Recycling Day on Friday, April 26

(Talladega, AL) To assist residents in disposing of unwanted electronics, the City of Talladega invites the community to participate in E-Recycling Day on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Wehadkee Yarn Mills on West Battle Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We encourage community members to begin setting aside unwanted electronic items to drop off on E-Recycling Day, which is becoming increasingly popular in Talladega,” said City Clerk Joanna Medlen, who has spearheaded the initiative since 2019. “Given the ever-increasing number of electronic gadgets being produced, promoting recycling and hosting an E-Recycling Day is more important than ever before.”

“Through a number of new and ongoing initiatives, the city is assisting residents in properly disposing of unwanted electronics while also expanding awareness of the value of conserving resources,” said Interim City Manager Danny Warwick.
“Residents eager to declutter their homes and protect the environment dropped off over 20,000 pounds of unwanted electronic items during recent City of Talladega e-recycling events.”

Items accepted include computers, monitors, keyboards, cables, power supplies, printers, cell phones, printer cartridges, televisions, Christmas lights, hair dryers, curling irons, microwaves, VCRs, DVD players, telephones, battery backups, scanners, extension cords and small household appliances.

Recycling of the electronics is done by Protec Recycling. For more information, please call Ms. Medlen at 256-362-8186.
