City poised to begin We Love Talladega campaign

(Talladega, AL) The City of Talladega is thrilled to announce its plan to launch We Love Talladega, an initiative that aims to strengthen and promote the people, places and things that make Talladega great.

“Our new campaign, We Love Talladega, will highlight the many reasons we appreciate and value our city. Talladega is brimming with potential, and I am excited about working with city employees and local leaders to beautify our neighborhoods, help businesses flourish, support our academic institutions, expand tourism, reduce crime, and develop a strong infrastructure,” said City Manager Derrick Swanson.

The campaign, which begins this summer, will include residential and business beautification competitions; cleanup campaigns; social media promotions; and opportunities for city employees to volunteer at local organizations. Talk of Talladega, a recorded program hosted by the city manager, is among the platforms that will be utilized to promote the campaign.

“Talk of Talladega, which can be viewed on the city’s social media sites, is an excellent platform for showcasing business leaders and entrepreneurs who help make our city a great place to live, work, play and invest. As I interview individuals for the program, I am inspired by their success stories as well as their commitment to our community,” added Swanson, who serves as host of Talk of Talladega.

“As a Talladega native, I am excited about Mr. Swanson’s plans to establish stronger connections in our community,” said Finance Director Shaneeka Phillips. “We Love Talladega will provide city employees with organized opportunities to participate in volunteer projects that demonstrate how much we care about residents and how much we want our community to thrive.”

Public Information Officer Mary Sood added, “While he knows that there is work to be done, Mr. Swanson recognizes and embraces the unique characteristics that make Talladega a wonderful place to live. The We Love Talladega campaign will help promote growth by celebrating our city’s strengths.”
