City of Talladega opens disposal site to assist residents and combat illegal dumping

(Talladega, AL) Dumping dilapidated sofas, broken televisions, shrubbery and other unwanted items on the side of the road is a sure-fire way to uglify any community.  Fortunately, Talladega recently initiated a residential roll off container disposal and tire bin disposal program that will help beautify the city by drastically reducing dumping.

Talladega residents may drop off shrubbery, grass clippings, limbs, wood, furniture, appliances and tires inside the fenced area at 400 George Holdridge Lane, from 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.,  Monday - Friday.  Items should be placed inside the bins. Do not drop off household garbage, liquids or food wastes.

“The program is for residents only,” said Community Appearance Director Derrick Pointer. “We are not equipped to take debris from remodeling construction sites and businesses.”

“Residents are understandably frustrated when individuals dispose of unwanted furniture and other items on roadsides and in other unsuitable public places within their community,” said City Manager Derrick Swanson. “In keeping with our commitment to delivering exceptional service, we have developed a solution that will benefit our entire city.”
