(Talladega, AL) Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) President Dr. Dennis Gilliam presented a $5000 contribution to City Manager Seddrick Hill Sr. to support the City of Talladega’s Christmas on the Square.

The annual event, which will be held December 8 - 10, 2023, on Talladega’s courthouse square, includes free ice skating (no fee to rent skates), free movies, free Santa photos, free Santa Workshop activities, free holiday train rides and more. There will also be 60 vendors selling great holiday gifts.

“The Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind is a proud member of the Talladega community, and appreciates the opportunity to support Christmas on the Square,” said Dennis Gilliam, Ed.D., President, Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. “We are thankful to play a role in bringing together Talladega citizens for this special event and showing the region all that Talladega has to offer.”

“We are thankful to AIDB for its generous contribution to Christmas on the Square and its unwavering commitment to our community. Hosting an event of this magnitude would be extremely difficult without support from our community partners,” said City Manager Seddrick Hill Sr. 

“A Talladega Winter Wonderland” will be the theme of this year’s Christmas on the Square. The skating rink will open for the weekend outside the courthouse from 6 pm - 9 pm on Friday, December 8, and the Polar Express Movie and Best Pajama Contest will be held at the Historic Ritz Theatre at 6 pm on Friday, December 8.

From 10 am - 6 pm, on Saturday, December 9, and noon - 6 pm on Sunday, December 10, there will be holiday craft activities for children, ice skating, food trucks, holiday train rides, Santa photos, vendors, a bounce house, free Christmas movies at the Historic Ritz Theatre and more.
