Talladega native Ashton Hall made history on September 19, 2023, when he became the city’s youngest-ever elected mayor at age 22. He is widely recognized for his leadership capabilities and long-standing commitment to service.
During his high school years, he served as an ambassador for the Talladega Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Talladega High School National Honor Society. After graduating from Talladega High School in 2019, he further distinguished himself at Talladega College.
While pursing a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development and Instruction, he held various critical campus leadership roles, including Talladega College Student Government Association (SGA) president, vice president and chief of justice. He was initiated into the Gamma Gamma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity in the Fall of 2021 and served as polemarch.
His commitment to excellence led to his appointment as the Southern Province Junior Province Vice Polemarch 2022-2023 for the state of Alabama. Additionally, he served on the Kappa Alpha Psi Board of Directors as well as the Strategic Planning Committee from 2022-2023. He was also elected 2022-2023 president of Kappa Delta Epsilon Education Fraternity at Talladega College. In addition to his vast contributions to the Talladega College community, he served as vice chair of the City of Talladega’s Planning Commission. Mere months after graduating from Talladega College in 2023, he was elected mayor.
Mayor Hall, who teaches 3rd grade math at Stemley Road Elementary School, is committed to creating more opportunities for youth to excel. He recently spearheaded and hosted the city’s first Mayoral Scholarship Ball, which raised scholarship funds for local students.
He served as grand marshal of Talladega’s 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and, on the same day, delivered a keynote speech at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance in Burlington, Vermont. He also delivered an inspiring message at the NAACP Emancipation Proclamation Service in Talladega.
Mayor Hall has received numerous accolades, and was recently honored by Central Alabama Standouts.
